Because of the limited time in this 2 credit course, we will not be covering much on Telephone Networks. I list below the pages in the first five chapters of the book I suggest you look at.

• Chap 1 - pages 3-12 (scan this intro stuff)
• Chap 2 - page 25 (part on switches and PBXs), page 28-33 (Electromagnetic Spectrum), page 38 (modem),
• Chap 3 - we will be covering most of this chapter in class so you should read all of it.
• Chap 4 - none - I will provide a short overview of circuit switching and packet switching.
• Chap 5 - page 113 (what is PSTN), page 122 (figure 5.3),
