Project Description

For this final project using both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software, the sky is the limit! This is your chance to apply all the technical and artistic skills that you've learned thus far.

There are few requirements for this project, but it should be a combination of at least two or more of your original images (photos), combined with creative elements from Illustrator. That's it. It can be a combination of color and black and white, all color or all B/W. Since this is your final project, we expect more technical finesse and aesthetic awareness. Creativity will be the overriding criterion for this project. Keep in mind the work of serious late 20th century artists who combined painting and photography, i.e.,Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, etc. You do not need to emulate them--just remember the ways they utilized these two different media.

If you want to discuss your ideas for this final project, please feel free to seek our advice.

Keep some of these points in mind when working on this project: sheer number of images combined does not mean the project will be better; simplicity is valued, yet a project that shows little manipulation will also suffer ("That's too easy," might be heard!); composition and framing are very important, as are other artistic techniques such as line, shape, texture, pattern, rhythm, and light.

Create. Ponder. Make Choices. Enjoy!

Addendum: Project 4 will be printed and matted.  Please attach the following to the back of your mattted project:

    1.  A description of what you were trying to communicate with this project.  What were you trying to "say" with it?  How did you combine your photos and illusttrator techniques to make this statement?

    2.  An envelope containing your original photos used in making the project.  If they are from a digital camera, make prints.  It is strictly forbidden to use internet images or the work of others on this project.
