The 1995 statistic for ACSM membership. It was difficult to assess true exercise physiologist membership as there were many categories for exercise physiologists. For example, students were not included in the professional occupation grouping, and exercise physiologists were rated separately from exercise test technicians, exercise specialists, fitness instructors, etc. The specific occupation shading coincides with the occupation Venn diagram shading. The Venn diagram represents the percent of non-student members whose occupations were divided into the 8 groups listed. The data from this figure were compiled by the authors based on ACSM statistics (1).
