I WISH MORE EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGISTS had the same reaction to the membership issue that some ASEP members do.  I have felt this way since the onset of ASEP. Why aren't more exercise physiologists members of ASEP? Read Tommy's article in the April PEPonline journal and ask yourself those questions. Although everyone is busy with work, family, etc., the least we can do is to support the efforts of ASEP and the active members. We need to show our support  by posting our thoughts on the forum. Think about the issues before us, and put together an article for the PEPonline journal. I feel too many of us are comfortable where we are, and we have developed a passive mindset regarding our role in OUR profession. We have the power if we have thoughts and ideas, but we must share them.

Not all exercise physiologist have an easy time finding jobs. Most of the public and employers don't fully understand what we do or were trained to do. Take an active role, share your knowledge with the public and your co-workers. But more importantly, share your ideas with those across the country that share our profession. Perhaps, we need to re-evaluate our priorities. I think we need to think about what is important for all exercise physiologists, especially in the next five or 10 years? It is important to ASEP that we offer support by becoming an active member. So, if you have been thinking about it, please act on your thoughts. It will be money well invested in our profession and your future as an exercise physiologist.

Thanks.
